UK Border Agency takes huge Liverpool office

The UK Border Agency is planning to place its two thousand Liverpool staff members under the same roof after securing around 218,000 sq ft of new shared office space in the commercial district of the city.

At the moment the staff is spread across six different buildings until they move into the Old Hall Street Capital building.

Director of operations for the UK North West Border Agency, Eddy Montgomery, said that by moving to a newer headquarters taxpayers will save about ten million pounds each year. Montgomery also added that the new location will help the service become more effective and efficient as well as improve communication.

The office in Liverpool will be responsible for asylum claims, immigration law, ID cards for foreign nationals, and manage the individual causes of foreigners who are seeking citizenship in Britain.

Downing Property Group has invested £15m in preparing the Grade A office space at the Capital as well as building on lifestyle facilities and other business facilities.

Chairman of Downing, George Downing, stated that the Capital is the largest office space rental that has been signed in the history of Liverpool which clearly shows how high quality the building. He also added that it shows that Liverpool is a great location to live and work in.

Downing continued to say that the developing company has spend the last three years working on the Capital and that it has since then been able to take an active role in regenerating the appeal of the commercial district in Liverpool.
