High Definition Televsion and its sets

HDTV is becoming standard in many houses as many of the leading networks around the world move to transmitting on high definition, and the audience is now educated about the difference in quality on the new sets and the old sets. It took some years for everyone to understand the big changes that the high definition television will bring with it, and when this became a reality - everything changed.

Some models of plasma displays and especially Direct View rear projection units that use a cathode ray tube can be damaged by burn-in, just like CRT computer screens from images such as stock tickers, logos or emblems that appears on the screen for extended periods of time. This is often caused by non-high definition broadcast in 4:3 aspect ratio, this creates black sidebars on the sides of the picture because an HDTV is set in 16:9 aspect ratio.

Changing channels frequently, adjusting your contrast control to 50% or less and using either the zoom, panorama or stretch features of your widescreen HDTV set will solve this problem. The downside of this solution is that unfortunately it may cause some picture distortion. If you want to avoid this problem altogether, a LCD-based or DLP rear projection style HDTV are two excellent options.
